Hip Dysplasia

Hip dysplasia occurs when the normal ball and socket joint of the hip is unstable and does not effectively cover the femoral head (the ball-shaped end of the thigh bone). This lack of support and coverage for the femoral head puts significant strain on the hip socket, causing joint cartilage to break down over time.

Common symptoms of hip dysplasia often include pain in the side of the hip and difficulty with physical or vigorous activities. If you are experiencing these symptoms, schedule a consultation with one of our orthopedic surgeons.

The following are a group of disorders included in hip dysplasia:

  • Acetabular retroversion
  • Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH)
  • Hip click
  • Hip dislocation
  • Hip instability
  • Hip or labral tears
  • Snapping hip

Although hip dysplasia is often treated by surgery or simply proper stretching and conditioning, our surgeons will sit down with you and recommend the best course of action for your hip injury correction and discuss the most effective method for preventing future injuries. Every patient’s condition is unique and we look forward to diagnosing and treating your circumstance with expert precision and care.

If you are experiencing anyu pain or discomfort in your hip, schedule an appointment with the surgeons at the Hip Treatment Center for a personal consultation to monitor your condition.
